The Riot Scholarship was created in 2005 to encourage the growth of women's ultimate by exposing youth girls to high level training and competition. This annual scholarship provides financial support for a deserving young woman to attend the National Ultimate Training Camp in Amherst, MA. For the last several years, this has been the nation's best overnight coed high school camp for ultimate frisbee.

2005 Inaugural Recipient: Kelsey Colpitts!

"Ultimate plays a huge role in my life. It cheers me up when I'm sad, it helps me get out my stress and tension. Ultimate is what keeps me sane. Many people dread going to practice, yet everyday I can't wait for the end of the school day because I know I get to go out and do what I love. I love ultimate because it not only focuses on teamwork but also individual work. Going to NUTC helped me to improve my skills so that when I got back I could teach what I'd learned to my teammates and help to lead the team. I am always trying to introduce people to ultimate frisbee and to show them what an awesome sport it is."

2006 Winner: Sally Landefeld!

"I just finished 9th grade at Lakeside High School in Seattle. I started playing Ultimate in 8th grade on the Lakeside Middle School team, and was instantly in love with the game. I started the high school season being very insecure about my frisbee skills, but by the time Westerns came around, I was completely comfortable with my forehand, backhand, man D, and zone! But I still need practice! So when my coach emailed the team about summer camps, I knew right away that they would be perfect for helping me. I saw that Seattle Riot was offering a scholarship, which I knew would help my parents, so I applied right away!"
